Stephen is a knight encountered in the Hollow Halls. When first encountered he is unarmed and morose at the loss of his sword in the room ahead. He requests assistance in retrieving his weapon, rewarding his helpers with a rusted coin. He leaves and can later be summoned in certain boss fights, usually against dragons and demons.
